This work explores the experiential qualities of abstract organic form. The process begins with a feeling or a gesture that I strive to translate into sculptural forms. These sculptures allude to an organic and human maturation that conveys both the strength and vulnerability of the human condition..

Joan Mullen is an Adjunct Professor of Art at Bridgewater State University. Joan Mullen received her BFA at The Maryland Institute, College of Art (MICA) and her MFA at Mason Gross School Of The Arts, Rutgers University.
She is a member of the Galatea Fine Art Gallery in SOWA in Boston. She has participated in various outdoor sculpture exhibitions and creates site-specific installation sculpture and commissioned work. Joan Mullen was commissioned to create extensive site installation sculptures for Meditech in three of their corporate offices in Fall River, Norwood and Framingham, Massachusetts.
This summer Joan Mullen’s sculpture was chosen for the Off the Wall Juried Exhibition at the Danforth Museum in Framingham, MA, juried by Dina Deitsch. Assistant Curator at the DeCordova Park and Museum.
Her sculpture is also included The Unbound Art Salon at the Gallery at Harvard Education Portal in Allston, MA. and in With A Little Help from Our Friends at Atlantic Works Gallery in East Boston, MA.
