The Ricciardi College of Business Bear
The Ricciardi College of Business requests design proposals for a new Riccardi College of Business Bear to be completed over the 2026 summer break. The student design should incorporate the three colleges that comprise RCOB (Aviation Science, Management and Marketing, and Accounting and Finance). The top three designs will be awarded.
First place and student chosen to paint the bear would win $750 in addition to the $3,000 stipend
Second Place- $500 prize money
Third Place $250 prize money
Design submissions should be delivered to Jay Block, Associate Director of Collections and Exhibitions, Room 101 Art Center, no later that April 11th., 2026. Proposals should included a series of finished concept drawings, a brief description or artist statement detailing the artist's concept and how it pertains to this commission.
Judging will be done by Jeanean J. Davis-Street, Ph.D., Dean, Ricciardi College of Business.
The selected artist will work to complete the painting of the bear for an installation deadline of August 15th, 2026. Transportation of the bear to the artist will be covered by the Anderson Gallery within a reasonable distance from the BSU campus. Cost of materials will be the responsibility of the selected artist(s).
This project will be organized as a summer internship.

New Bear Sculpture
Submissions for a new Bear to be placed on campus is requested. The design is completely in the hands of the artist(s). Past bears have been abstract, nature based and most recently a "Gummy Bear". The selected design will be awarded $3000 as a summer internship.

Turchon Tunnel Mural, 2026
Submissions for a new Turchon Tunnel mural is requested. The design is completely in the hands of the artist(s). The selected design will be awarded $5000 as a summer internship.
It is encouraged to talk with Jay Block prior to submitting a final proposal for active feedback. This can be help in the impact of the design, understanding the logistics of the project and the understanding the importance having this project on your resume.
