Carol found painting in watercolor a most challenging and satisfying form of expression. She was drawn to rural New England and its endless natural wonders, which would catch her eye and become the subject of a painting. Carol found inspiration in the tranquility of the rivers--but the ocean, the surf, and the rocky coast of Maine became subjects that she would return to often.

In Carol’s words, “Painting the surf lets me communicate in verbs instead of nouns - in motion instead of static elements. From the dramatic breaking of waves on the rocks, to subtle changes of light in the sky, to the slow pull of the tide, the seacoast provides inspiration like few other subjects”.
